Taxpayer Protection Initiative!
The plan to raise your taxes after the next election is an open secret. The Howard County Republican Club together with our candidates and concerned citizens, Democrats, Independents and Republicans want to make it more difficult to raise our county taxes. Our plan is to change the county charter to require a "Super majority" (4 out of 5 county council members) to raise any county tax rate. We need your help in a petition drive to obtain 12,000 signatures by August 9th.
Hate Taxes?
Here's your chance to make a difference. HCRC is sponsoring the Taxpayer Protection Initiative to change the County Charter so that a 2/3 majority vote of County Council members will be required to levy new or raise taxes.
Your income tax was raised 30% by the county in 2002 and real estate taxes have been climbing for years. Meanwhile, the county has managed to find a way to spend it all.
You can be part of history and slow the rate of tax increases in your county.
Volunteers are needed to collect signatures at designated locations throughout the county.
We will provide training on the "art" of collecting "valid" signatures. We are flexible and will match your schedule.
I've done this before and it IS fun. Come on out, please.
