Join us for the biggest Tea
Party Express at the
White House in Washington, D.C. on April 15th:
You, "The

government takeovers of private-sectors of the economy, Cap &
Trade, government-run health care, and higher taxes! If you thought
we were just going to quietly go away, or that this tea party
movement would be just a passing fad, you were mistaken.
We are taking our
Country back!"
Join us April 15th, 2010
as we tell Congress and the White House: "ENOUGH!"
Howard County needs to rally our folks,
and become a part of the largest Caravan of buses that this
state has ever seen. Sign up now to reserve your seat and spend
the day with fellow conservatives who are determined to be
heard. Details to follow.

Joel's Rant
Those ever decreasing jobless
figures.......you can't make this stuff up, or not!
|
|
The president claims
we've now clearly turned the corner. The jobless rate in
December dropped from 10.2% to 10% and last month dropped to
9.7%. That $867 billion stimulus (used to be $787 billion) is
really working. Just wait until he adds the new $150
billion jobs bill the House passed, and which the Senate is having
trouble passing but is clearly not off the table by a long shot. There's no telling what could
happen. That Obama is really quite the genius, no?
Actually, the answer is No, he's not a genius. He's a wrecking
ball.
Who really believes those figures? Here's a question. If
the number of unemployed grew by 20,000 last month, how is it that
the percentage of unemployed went down from 10% to 9.7%? You
see what I mean, right? The percentage should have gone up, but
it didn't. The number of jobless grew, but the percentage of
jobless went down. Quite the conundrum. How could that
happen?
It could happen if there were a significant number of unemployed
people who finally just dropped out of the job market. People
who have decided not to look for work anymore. Why bother,
there are no meaningful jobs to replace the substantial good paying
jobs they lost.
So, if the overall total of unemployed in America
went down significantly, even though 20,000 newly jobless entered the
pool of unemployed, the percentage in that case could in fact drop
from 10% to 9.7%. Or from 10.2% to 10%. So the
"success" of the Obama Administration is to crush and kill
and bleed small business and free enterprise with regulations and
taxes and instability so that no employer will want to hire
anyone, thereby making it so difficult to find work that people
simply stop looking. If people who stopped looking for work
are no longer on the jobless roles they don't get counted
as unemployed. Now that's a policy you can believe in.
Before you know it he'll be telling you the jobless rate is 4.2%, or
maybe 3.3%, or whatever, but your neighbors will be selling their
houses and the malls will be empty because no one will be
working. Actually, that previously mentioned $150 billion jobs
bill still rattling around in Congress isn't a "job
creating" bill at all.
The vast majority of the money will eventually be used to
extend unemployment benefits for more months and to also redefine
unemployment benefits to include more people previously not covered.
It's interesting to note that the category
"those receiving unemployment benefits" is now the third
largest "employer" in America, following in order those
working for the federal government and those working for the various
state governments. The only
sector of work that is growing is "government", the least
productive kind of work of all.
That can't be good by any normal person's measure, no?
And don't forget to watch for that jobless
figure to get lower each month as more workers drop off the roles but
about a million people will be hired to help with the census
this year. Of course they'll only be temporary and the long term
impact should be near zero as those folks go back on unemployment as
their census term comes to an end.
But it makes for good press, and isn't that what really
counts?
Now that's a strategy for putting people
back to work.
And there you have it.

Match Game (also called Match Game '7"X") is
a tv game show featuring contestants
attempting to match celebrities' answers to fill-in-the-blank
questions. It was hosted for
most of its time on the air by Gene Rayburn. The most famous versions of the
1970s and 1980s, starting with Match

and sometimes rowdy humor and involved contestants trying to match
six celebrities. Regular

While
this posture is disrespectful in any culture, it is absolutely never
done in any executive setting.
Furthermore, in over half of
the cultures of the world, it is recognized not only as
disrespectful, but as an extreme insult.

A message from our Vice President
|
|
I saw in today's paper that the Wilde Lake Community
Association is seeking candidates for 5 seats on the Village Board
and one seat on the Columbia Council. If Republicans are to
retake the County this year, we must not ignore these local, elected
positions. I strongly recommend club members who live in the
area to consider running for these positions. These positions
give people the opportunity to get their name out among their
neighbors and if they are thinking of a future run for office, "it
is a great, low cost way to get exposed to local
government." Nominations run through 3/10/10. A nomination
package can be picked up at Slayton House, 10400 Cross Fox Lane in
Columbia. For more information, 410-730-3987.
Thanks,

Fellow
Patriots,
Please
help me and my campaign team distribute a second batch of 5,000 door
hangers in Howard County. Targeted leafleting is one of the best
ways of getting our "common sense" message out to
the voters -- but we can't do it without dozens
of dedicated volunteers!
Weather
permitting (no heavy rain or snow), volunteers will meet at my house
(9206 Perfect Hour, Columbia, MD 21045) at 10:00 AM on the following
Saturdays:
February
27
March
6
March

March

After
leafleting for a couple of hours, everybody will be treated to
lunch, hot cider and warming conversation! To sign up or if you have
any questions, please e-mail campaign field coordinator Ron Bartyczak
at rbartyczak@hotmail.com or call (410)
381-4938. Your help will be highly appreciated and will make a
huge impact on November 2!

( 2nd
posting of this article)
The Maryland General Assembly meets in Annapolis each year, for 90 days, to
act on more than 2300 bills including the State's annual budget. The
427th Session began January 13, 2010 and adjourns April 12, 2010.
They say citizens are never safe while the
Legislature is in session. If you believe that our Country and
State are headed in the wrong direction, and if you believe that taxes are
too high, then you need to support your Delegates and Senator by
testifying for their bills in Annapolis. We Republicans are outnumbered. That makes
getting a bill approved very difficult and very frustrating for our
representatives. Citizen
support often makes all the difference. You can help by
testifying to the appropriate Committee, when the bill is scheduled
to be heard, or by submitting your testimony in writing prior
to the hearing. Just click the link below to see how:
